In support of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and to further strengthen Taiwan’s leadership role in promoting environmental education in the Asia-Pacific region, the Ministry of Environment is organizing the 2026 International Environmental Issues and Education (IEIE) training program. Starting from Taiwan as a point of departure, the program aims to help participants understand local environmental issues as well as the various environmental threats faced globally, thereby inspiring the ability and motivation to address environmental challenges through concrete actions.
Since its launch in 2020, the training program has been held annually and has attracted a total of 159 students from 40 countries. Guided by the themes of “Inspiration, Creation, and Action,” the program seeks to enhance international students’ understanding of Taiwan’s environmental education and environmental action initiatives. Participants are encouraged to adapt Taiwan’s experiences to identify and address environmental issues in their own hometowns.
The program primarily targets students from Asia-Pacific countries currently studying in Taiwan. Students and youth from other countries, as well as Taiwanese students and young people interested in environmental education, are also welcome to apply. Priority will be given to applicants who have not previously participated in this program. The organizer will review applicants’ eligibility and conduct a selection process after registration.
