「研究發展」，技專校院競爭新利器
“Research and Development” - A New and Effective Instrument for Competition of Science and Technology Universities
為建構技專校院的教學研究特色，產學合作已成為教育部評鑑各校的重要指標與政策，並形成一股熱烈的風潮，讓一般大學也積極與產業界進行連結。過去，各技專校院是以教師個人學術研究為主，僅能成就個人及學校；而今，單打獨鬥已經不符時勢所趨，講求的是透過產官學研合作，以創造「產學雙贏與共榮」為最主要目標。同時推動產學應用與專業實務，不但可增強學校產學連結、增加研究經費，亦能讓業界獲得獨特創發與優質人才，因此成為各校的新競爭利器。
In order to establish teaching and research distinctiveness, industry-academia collaboration has been utilized as an important quality index and policy for Ministry of Education (M.O.E.) to evaluate and accredit all the science and technology universities. It has therefore come into being a passionate trend for universities to aggressively look for collaborative linkage with industry. In the past, each science and technology university paid attention only to promote their faculty’s personal academic researches, which can just benefit individual and university itself. However, fighting along nowadays is not matching the trend of the times anymore. The better strategy is to work through industry-academia collaboration to create “double-win and co-prosperity between industry and academia.” Motivating both industry-academia collaborations and professional practices may not only strengthen industry-academia linkage and raise research funding, but also allow industry to acquire distinctive know-how and highly qualified manpower. So, it becomes a new and effective instrument for competition of science and technology universities.
落實產品導向 厚植產學能量
Implement Product Oriented Research Strategy and Nurture Industry-academia Capacity
本校積極落實以產品(製程)為導向(Product(Process) Oriented Research, POR)之研發策略，重視產業與市場需求，扮演學校教師與產業間的媒介角色，經由「專利布局」、「專利保護」、「產學合作」、「創新育成」等平台，將學術研發成果，以安全、尊嚴、合法、有效、便利、互惠的方式，技術移轉至產業界，協助建立永續經營機制，並讓此無形資產之價值發揮最大效益。
NPUST has aggressively involved in the implementation of “Product (Process) Oriented Research (POR)” strategy on campus, devoted much attention to industry’s and market’s needs, and play intermediary role between University’s faculty and industry. Through the platforms of “patent portfolio,” “patent protection,” “industry-academia collaboration,” and “innovation and incubation,” the NPUST has delivered quintessential academic research to industry under the conditions of safety, dignity, legitimacy, convenience, and reciprocity to manifest the benefits of intellectual property and assist the industry in their business continuity.
此外，為整合本校研究能量，校方積極以校務基金挹助，設立9所特色研究中心，包括活性天然物技術研發中心、動物疫苗及佐劑技術研發中心、綠色動力車輛研究中心、電子商務研發中心、新興污染物研究中心等，以發展本校熱帶農業科技專長與特色。如活性天然物中心，已獲得20多項專利，該中心學生實習產品年銷售金額更高達2千餘萬元，成效豐碩；而綠色動力車輛研究中心亦成績斐然，獲得經濟部在地型產業加值學界科專1700萬元計畫，有助發展輕量化車體核心技術及響應節能減碳之環保措施。
Besides, in order to integrate NPUST’s research capacity, the University has aggressively put forward Administrative Affaires Fund to initiate 9 distinguishing research centers, including the Center for Active Natural Products Development, Animal Vaccine and Adjuvant Research Center, Green Moto Vehicle Research Center, Electronic Commerce Research Center, Emerging Compounds Research Center, etc. to expand the University’s specialties and unique features on tropical agricultural technologies. For example, the Center for Active Natural Products Development has owned more than 20 patents. Their students’ practicing products have made as high as NT$20,000,000 of sales per year. Their achievements are remarkable. Secondly, the Green Moto Vehicle Research Center has exceptionally obtained a NT$1,700,000 grant of Local Business Value Adding and Technology Development Program for Academia from Ministry of Economic Affairs. The funding may help the Center for developing technologies of lightening vehicle body weight and also working in concert with environment protection measure of energy saving and carbon dioxide reduction.

Outstanding Research and Development Achievements and Exceptional Industry-academia Evaluation and Accreditation
為建立完整產學合作組織架構，本校研究發展處下設有教育部區域產學合作中心、創新育成中心、藝文產業創新育成中心、技術服務中心、智財技轉中心等促進技術合作與研究發展之業務單位，以業務統籌運作模式，提昇產學合作效能。本校努力打造親產學校園環境，研發成果斐然：
In order to establish the complete organization frame of industry-academia collaboration, Office of Research and Development of NPUST has set up Center for Regional Industry Academia Collaboration M.O.E., Innovation and Incubation Center, Art and Culture Industry Innovation and Incubation Center, Technology Service Centers, Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer Center, etc. to accelerate services of technology collaboration and those provided by other research and development related Divisions. Through utilizing jointed business operation model, NPUST has tried to raise the efficacy of industry-academia collaboration and made effort to create a pro-industry-academia campus environment with brilliant achievements:
此外，本校近年來特別重視推動產學成果專利化及技術轉移之工作，專利申請件數快速成長，97年度在本國法人發明專利申請數量項目已躍升為全國第41名，在技專校院排行則名列第三。而屏科大薄鹽醬油成功移轉製造技術，授權金高達新台幣一千萬元，更創下學術界技轉記錄。
Besides, NPUST has recently paid attention particularly to promote the work of patent protection for the achievements of industry-academia collaborations and technology transfer. The patent application number grows swiftly. Until 2008, NPUST’s patent application number has been ranked the 41st among the institutes nationwide, and been ranked the 3rd among the science and technology universities. The light sodium soy sauce technology owned by NPUST has been successfully transferred to industry for commercialization. The license fee was NT$10,000,000, which set a highest record of technology transfer for academia.

Lift Up NPUST’s Notability Internationally and Strive Toward Being among the Top 100 Universities of Asia
本校已有85年悠久歷史，在即將邁入百年學府之際，更需以提昇國際知名度為目標，掌握全球學術脈動，培育術德兼備人才，俾能進入亞洲百大名校之列。至盼全體同仁努力開展實踐領域，以「立足台灣，接軌國際」的穩健腳步與寬闊視野，朝向「亞洲百大」的光輝願景勇往邁進。
With a long and glorious history just about 85 years, NPUST is going to become a centennial university. The entire fellowship of NPUST shall keep abreast of global academic rhythm, culture manpower with both qualified intelligences and virtues, and make effort to elevate NPUST’s notability internationally, so that NPUST can move into the top 100 Asian universities in the near future. Everyone is expected to have steady footsteps and broadminded vision to “originate ourselves in Taiwan and connect to the entire globe” as well as strive toward the aspiration of being among the “top100 universities of Asia.”
